Time is of the essence

Living in a fast pace world, it can be hard staying organized and on top of everything. Recently graduating college, it has taken me a while to find a good balance of work, me-time, and life in general, but I've found tips from college and post-college life that can help ease some unnecessary stress. Whether you're still in school, working full time or trying to coordinate your family's schedule, I hope these tips help you stay organized!

Make lists. I'm a huge fan of making to-do lists every day to prioritize what needs to get done. Keep a planner on your desk and write down each task you need to complete. Part of it may be my very type A personality but I love checking off items on each list. So get those highlighters ready!

Plan ahead. Every day make sure to stay ahead of deadlines by planning out what needs to be done. If you have larger projects make sure there's enough time to complete the task. Try to eliminate jumping around from task to task before completing what you started (pending when it is due!).

Keep track of time. Time flies by when you work, so set alarms or invest in a watch that helps you track time. With everything being so fast pace, take a minute to slow down and focus on what needs to get done.

Avoid distractions. If you have several projects to get done, avoid interruptions while you work. Get a pair of headphones, put your phone down and make benchmark goals. Social media and smartphones can be addicting but also a huge distraction. Do your best not to waste time!

Establish routines. Create a routine for yourself to ingrain healthy, productive habits. Try to go to bed around the same time, set times during the day to check emails or reference your to-do list.

Find time for yourself. This can be the hardest part, but try finding time for yourself for read a good book, binge watch on Netflix and relax from your day.
