During the month of January the 'winter blues' can really hit home for some people with the cold weather, lack of sleep, and the after holiday slump. Even every third Monday in January is deemed as 'Blue Monday,' or the most depressing, sad day of the year--originally coined by Dr. Cliff Arnall, a U.K. psychologist (see here from BBC).
Whether this is a legitimate holiday or not, I do believe that the long winter months can be a real downer! It's so important to take care of yourself and others, checking in on loved ones if they aren't feeling themselves and finding delights in little moments.
That's why I wanted to make this sunny, cheerful gift box to brighten someone's day. Using a box I had from Michaels, I filled it with crinkle paper and yellow products for a vibrant gift. It's surprisingly pretty hard to find yellow products, so I chose Lush's Cheer Up Butter Cup bath bomb, Lemonhead candy, a cozy candle, and Pukka's Turmeric Gold tea. Each gift was selected not only because it was yellow, but because each item had a purpose, making the recipient feel relaxed, rejuvenated and happy. I also incorporated a mason jar of flowers because they have the benefit of lifting spirits.
You don't have to use the same products and can explore adding more yellow or cheerful items! So as you tackle the long, cold month, I hope this inspires you to pay attention to how your feeling and find ways to make others happy.
