What better way to celebrate a beautiful bride than a Galentine's Day brunch?! I am so honored to be the Maid of Honor in my best friend's wedding and to kick off the wedding celebrations, my mom and I hosted a gorgeous brunch for her bridal party! We loved bringing everyone together over delicious food and festive decorations while making lasting memories. From our menu to each little detail, I'm excited to share with you how we brought this magical day to life!
Spreading the love with homemade wreaths
One of the focal elements of our Galentine's Day celebration was wreath making! Bringing everyone together for crafting was not only an interactive activity but a special gift for everyone to take home as a keepsake for the day.
For a visually appealing display, we set up a crafting station with assorted materials to bring their wreaths to life. From varying fake roses to ornaments, ribbon and hearts everyone had a wonderful time customizing their creations. All the materials were purchased at Target, Walmart or our local craft store. One trick is to play ahead and take advantage of end of season sales for Christmas, which is where I was able to find pink and red shatterproof ornaments that were the perfect colors for Valentine's Day!
When setting up the station, we wanted to artfully display the items by using galvanized trays and buckets, risers, and bowls to organize each item by category. It was stunning to see everything beautifully laid out and to enhance the space we incorporated balloon garland, tassel banners, and lip balloons to further tie into the space and other decor elements.
Setting up sweet treats
You can't have a Galentine's Day without sweet treats! Creating a candy board is a great way to offer a variety of treats for guest to choose from, and we found Home Goods and Wegmans had adorable options - from conversation hearts to gummy bears and M&Ms. To further complement the sweet display, we baked heart sugar cookies and displayed them on pink and white cake stands. Purchasing cellophane bags such as these will also let guests take a snack home to enjoy!
Delicious brunch menu
Creating a mouthwatering menu can really set the tone for your event! We wanted to balance the sweet and savory offerings, so created a menu with something for everyone:
- Cinnamon rolls
- Gluten free apple muffins
- Cherry & white chocolate scones
- Sausage & bacon
- Assorted fruit
The key to selecting your menu is ensuring there will be enough food for your guests to enjoy but also curating it so the flavors complement the them. When serving the food, we used white and red serving platters and added height with this beautiful plate stand. Framing a menu to fit your theme is not only beautiful but also practical. As an additional detail, roll the utensils in a fabric napkin and tie it with ribbon.
As a delicious dessert, the bride's amazing mom brought a delicious ice cream cake with custom flavors and the bride's wedding hashtag!
All about the details
Weaving in detail throughout the event can really elevate the overall atmosphere and experience. When our guests entered, the first thing they saw was a welcome sign with our bride's hashtag surrounded by balloons on the staircase and around the sign. Creating a 'wow' welcome moment helps set the tone for the event.
For a special takeaway, I found a small mailbox at Target and spray painted it so our guests could write why they love the bride and a fun date night idea to really make her feel special and loved.
Any surface that wasn't being utilized, we added whimsical paper decorations and puffs or little bud vases with complementing flowers. The table we also used as a focal point with this stunning tablecloth that really pulled the colors of the room together. Balloon clusters will also be a great solution to fill little corners with something decorative.
