New Year's Eve party box for virtual celebrations

Ring in the New Year with a virtual celebration!! While 2020 was overall a tough year, it made me appreciate everything I already have in my life even more...but it's also time for a fresh start! Even though we can't celebrate in person like we normally would for New Year's parties, I thought it would be helpful to share tips for creating a 'party box' for virtual celebrations that you can drop off to neighbors or send to family and friends. Filled with decorations, treats, and party items, your recipients will love the thoughtful gesture and it gives them all the essentials to celebrate in the comfort (and safety) of their own homes!

What items to include in each box

There are so many fun items you can include in your party box, from the 'essentials' to playful elements (hello confetti!). I ordered several of my items from the adorable premium boutique party goods shop Bonjour Fete, which is a great place to look for staple and uniquely curated party decor! If you don't want to wait for shipping, you can also leverage curbside pickup at Party City for last minute items and contactless shopping.

- Paper plates

- Paper napkins

- Paper straws

- Noise makers

- Party crowns or hats

- Hershey kisses (can't miss your New Year kiss!)

- 2021 sparklers

- Party paper fans (or other decorations, like a banner, confetti, etc.)

How to assemble the party box

Start by filling a box or basket with gold and white crinkle paper. I loved the shimmery paper to add a festive touch to the overall presentation! Next, start by folding out a few of the fans and propping them up in the back of the box, then fill in with the larger items such as the plates, napkins, and straws. From there, weave in the smaller items to cover the holes. For extra detail, unwrap the plates and napkins and tie ribbons around them for a beautiful look. Placing the Hershey Kisses in a small plastic candy box also added an element of detail that elevated the overall box display.

Host a virtual party or toast

Now that all your boxes are shipped or dropped off, it's time to host a virtual celebration! Share a Zoom link with your family, friends or neighbors to share a toast to the New Year. It's the perfect time to break out the decorations in each box and give your 'guests' an excuse to celebrate. If you want to extend the celebrations look for fun virtual games to play, like a scavenger hunt or charades. Most of all, it's important ring in the New Year with your loved ones, even if you can't be physically together.
