Chocolate red velvet "Kiss" cookies
Timing: 3 hours
INGREDIENTS
1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened coca powder
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup butter, softened (1 1/2 sticks)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 Tbl heavy cream
Red food coloring (4 - 8 drops, as desired)
Red sugar
Hershey's Kisses
DIRECTIONS
Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, salt into a bowl. Set aside.
Cream butter, sugar, brown sugar in an electric mixer on medium speed, until light in texture. Add vanilla and eggs. Mix until combined, scrapping the bowl to ensure ingredients are folded in.
Add dry ingredients in two parts, mixing on low until combined. Scrape bowl and mix until all ingredients are combined. Add food coloring drops.
Pour red sugar in a bowl. Next, roll 1 inch dough balls and roll in the sugar until coated. Repeat until all dough is used. Place each ball on a plate and set in the fridge for two hours.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees, line baking sheet with parchment paper. Place dough balls on baking sheet (making sure there is space in between). Bake for 10 - 12 mins.
Let cool for five minutes then press Hershey's Kiss into center of cookie. Place in the fridge for 10 minutes so the chocolate doesn't melt.
