Step by step romantic Valentine's Day cheese board

Updated: Jan 23, 2023

There's nothing more romatnic than cheese, wine and red roses! For an elegant date night, adding a cheese board makes for a delicious treat so you can spend time with your loved one. Pair with small vases of roses and these beautiful Pottery Barn Valentine's Day plates for a fun night in!

Making your board

You'll want a mix of fruit, cheese, crackers, meats and even a touch of chocoalte! The best part about a cheese board is you don't need everything to be perfectly plated and organized, instead having a bit of fluidity and overlap on ingredients will create a beautiful layered effect. Here are some items I recommend, but pending the size of your board you can add more (or use less!).

  • Raspberries

  • Cherries

  • Strawberries

  • Pomegranate seeds

  • Brie *Use a heart cookie cutter and fill with fig jam!

  • Goat cheese encrusted with cranberries

  • Prosciutto

  • Salami

  • Crackers

  • Dark chocolate hearts

  • Roses for a garnish

How to create a salami rose

Yes, you can in fact make a salami rose! It may seem more intimidating that it actually is...but all you'll need is a narrow glass (I used a stemless champagne flute).

  1. Open your salami, I recommend using one that is already thinly sliced! Next, peal apart one piece and fold over the glass rim. Repeat all around, making sure there is overlap on each piece and until there's only a small opening left.

  2. Flip the glass over ontop the palm of your hand or your cheese board. You'll see a rose!
